Jeff Lanes

Founder & Managing Partner

Jeff founded Treetop to invest in leading middle-market companies across Canada. Prior to founding Treetop, Jeff spent 15 years at leading private equity firms in Toronto and New York, investing over $4 billion of equity in businesses across North America. Most recently, Jeff built and led the healthcare investment practice at Instar Asset Management. Previously, he led investments across healthcare, industrials, business services, and software at GIC, a large sovereign wealth fund. Jeff began his career in New York at Castle Harlan, a middle-market private equity firm, and Moelis, a global investment bank.

Jeff received his BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and MBA from Harvard Business School.

Jeff lives in Toronto with his wife, 3 kids, and dog. He's an avid basketball and football fan. He prides himself on being a rare "reverse snowbird" — South-raised, North-rooted.
